REALISTIC AND WORKABLE HEAT TRANSFER TIPS

You should buy the heat transfer papers that are meant for the substrate you are transferring on. Don’t buy what you like! You need to buy the right specification. This means that you will sell more of the product if you consider your customers in all that you do.

Do not neglect the sample packs given to you which are a great way to try out our papers.

Cash generating Modules

You must always keep a stock of your paper because if you decide to be spending money during a rush order on paper you may buy them more expensive which may eventually kill your expected profit margins.

You must make samples of all the products you want to sell. People want to see things first in their practical terms before building interest to buy them.

T-shirts Production Sequence

Use quality t-shirt materials for your transfers in order to get quality products. You must test all shirts before committing to buying a lot of them. Due to inferior materials, some fabrics don’t work well with heat transfer papers.

A wise business person should not be hamstrung by such unforeseen situations.

You should allow all heat transfer prints to dry for a few minutes before any other steps are taken. This is very important in the production process if you have a lot of dark colours.

You should stretch your shirt before pressing it. This will reduce cracking and peeling of the output.

Note that heat and pressure are important in this process. If you notice this peeling at all, it is a sign that you need to apply more pressure on the process.

Use a paper cutter to make your trimming much easier and nicer. It is obvious that most transfers benefit from trimming before application to give the shirt a more screen printed look that is of a higher grade. You must use a professional cutter in the process, it is much better than hand cutting. Note that when you use a razor or box cutter it pulls and transfer beyond what you desire but a cutter does not.

You must understand that a printer prints every other colour but white. All your images must therefore be designed with this principle. You must use the paper as the white areas or do a white printout in a coloured background so that it comes out as desired.

When you are doing the lettering, you should matte the letters on a graphic format. When you do this, you do not have to trim it at all.

You should tear off a corner of the backing paper to aid you in peeling it off before transferring.

Managing Your Heat Transfer Paper

You should keep transfer papers in the plastic sleeve they are enclosed in when it is not being used. You must keep it away from air conditioners and off the floor.

All shirts should be moisture free before pressing, that is, it should be relatively dry. If a trace of moisture is experienced, you could iron your shirt for about 5 seconds before pressing to ensure all the moisture is dried up.

You should make sure that your customers receive detailed instructions for pressing and washing with each purchase they make. You should also make sure that they are prominently packaged and should not be overlooked at any time.

You do not need to wash your transfers for 24 hours. The transfer should be allowed to rest for a day.

Always use a Teflon cover on your press as this is an invaluable aid. It usually prevents ink and adhesive from building up on your press

You should never leave the press unattended after using it.
